The legendary Swiss oboist, composer and conductor Heinz Holliger continues his recordings of the Schubert symphonies with the Basel Chamber Orchestra. Volume 1 and 2 of these cycles have already been praised for their interpretation and complementary, rarely heard instrumental works: "CD of the month, 5 stars for music and sound" in AUDIO; "With the first chords, a tremendous force unfolds. The finale is gorgeous!" 5 stars in FONOFORUM; and the most important English specialist magazine, Gramophone, wrote: "lucky Schubert - and lucky us ... one of the finest recordings!". On the new, third album, the Chamber Orchestra Basel presents Holliger Schubert's Symphonies 4 and 6. As usual, the orchestra plays historically informed, but for the most part with modern instruments. The opening of the album is the concert overture "in Italian style". The further recordings of the cycle will appear until autumn. The Basel Chamber Orchestra is on tour in Germany from April.
