THREE STAR SOLOISTS AND THREE ANNIVERSARIES
Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim present a joint recording of the Triple Concerto and the Seventh Symphony on the occasion of Beethoven's 250th birthday
The album also celebrates 20 years of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and the interaction between Anne-Sophie Mutter and Yo-Yo Ma after 40 years!

At the opening of Beethoven's year 2020, Deutsche Grammophon released an album that was exceptional in several respects and presented two key works by the jubilee with the Triple Concerto op. 56 and the Seventh Symphony op. 92. With Anne-Sophie Mutter, Yo-Yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim, three of the most renowned artistic personalities and Beethoven interpreters of our time can also be experienced, who together with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra interpret the colorful pieces in a multifaceted and exciting way.
The recordings were made as live recordings of concerts in July and October 2019 in Buenos Aires and Berlin on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. The orchestra has long since become the symbol of a project that underpins international understanding. Founded in 1999 by Daniel Barenboim, it stands for the courageous realization of a dream and is a fascinating microcosm that exemplarily shows how reconciliation can succeed when working together on a matter.

For Daniel Barenboim, Beethoven was probably the first truly unconventional composer. "He didn't care what people think," said Barenboim, and asked the interpreter to have absolute physical presence and dedication. Ā»As a musician, he forces you to go to the edge, the abyss and beyond. That requires a tremendous dose of courage. Ā«In its existential depth and cross-border force, the music of the convinced humanist still has a compelling presence and topicality.

Anne-Sophie Mutter says Beethoven Ā»really recognized what life is about: the peaceful coexistence of us humans, the fact that we are there for each other. For me, the idea that we should basically live together like brothers or sisters is the essence of his work, which makes him an ambassador from the past to a better future. Ā«
Yo-Yo Ma explains: Ā»The exuberant inventiveness is so surprising, and the work is so life-affirming, so positive. The second movement is classy and open, but the corner movements are simply full of joy! Ā«The clearly emphasized parts of the soloists are often performed in chamber music and cast a spell over the expressive interpretation of mother, Barenboim and Ma
The album is available on CD, BLU-RAY DISC & 2 LP VINYL & DIGITAL

Brilliant interaction
ā€œIt is fascinating to see how brilliant, concentrated and at the same time relaxed these three world stars play and listen to each other. Anne-Sophie Mutter - as always in breathtakingly beautiful, this time black shoulder-free robe - lets the tones shine in the quietest pianissimo. Yo-Yo Mas Celloton sounds infinitely warm and full. The orchestra with concertmaster Michael Barenboim, the conductor's son, is in top form. (...) Standing ovations. "(Concert review, RBB24, 23.10.2019)
